Advices for handling JAVA applets

I'm confused.  What does JavaScript have to do with Java?
As far as I know:  Nothing.  Are you talking about running Java
source embedded in applets, or are you talking about JavaScript
source?  As far as I know, people do not put Java source in applets,
instead they reference the .class files.  Thus there should be no
issue of compiling Java source code.
