Environment Variables

Hi all!
I have successfully installed kaffe-0.9.0 on BSDI4.
Unfortunely, I found the message pertaining to .global being .globl in 0.9.1
too late and skipped the problem and went with 0.9.0.
Anyway, I scoured the archives and found the message pertaining to my
problem but could not manage to eek an answer out of it, perhaps not
educated enough on environment paths yet.
I continue to get:
CLASSPATH is not set!
I have set ENVIRONMENT to:

CLASSPATH=.:/usr/local/share/kaffe/classes.zip
KAFFEHOME=/usr/local/share/kaffe
PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib
export CLASSPATH KAFFEHOME LD_LIBRARY_PATH PATH

which seems to be appropriate for the typical install I made. I have checked
the directories and found the files in those paths.

I am assuming I am using bash and the paths in the ENVIRONMENT file seem to
be correct to me.

Any and all suggestion heading in the right direction are very much appreciated!
