Hmmm,

Looks like the ISO standards slug-out is finally sorting itself out. I
think that Sun has done a fair job compromising between business and
scientific needs. In the short of it, it appears that kaffe can call
itself:

ISO-xxxx : Java(tm) Platform compliant

but not

100% Pure Java, Java(tm) Compatible, or and of the other non-sense.

Not as clean a decision as I would like to see, but not bad... really.
