Jikes fails to compile kaffe classes

I use jikes to compile my applications and am very happy with it.
However, I noticed that kaffe classes don't compile with jikes because
of default access issues. I haven't checked this, but it seems jikes
follows the language spec more closely. So it's probably a good idea to
use jikes to clean up the details of the classes.
