AFAIK, the GNU GPL explicitly allows GPL'ed programs to use non-free
components that are distributed as part of the operating system, such
as the OS kernel, standard libraries, compilers. But then, I'm not a
GPL specialist. It would be more appropriate for this discussion to
take place in gnu.misc.discuss, IMO.
