kaffe 1.0 b1 eats up all memory

Hi kaffe users (and ~ drinker)

troubles ahead...

I´ve downloaded, untarred, ./configured and made kaffe-1.0.b1
successfully. (only some warnings during compiling, but nothing
serious).
java -version gives a few lines of text. So far, so good.

But compiling a java-source-file (like: javac HelloWorld.java) or
executing a class file (java HelloWorld) is *not* possible.
Kaffe starts up and eats up all memory -> the system becomes unusable
(thank God or the responlible guys for the SysReq-key)

Some system information might be useful:

Libraies in /usr/local/lib:

Has anybody a clue what is happening here?? Is it my system or is it
because its beta ?
Is it my fault ?

thanks in advance for any helpful ideas and sorry for my
not-so-perfect-english(TM)

P.S.: Sorry if this is often asked. I know that there is an archive of
all messages, but obvioulsy the 3000+ pages attack of Ken Starr slows
not only the US net but also the transatlantic connections. And this was
released a few hours ago....
