 This will test fewer combinations: for instance, it won't test
floating points values passed in the second position.

Anyway, one thing to keep in mind is that the original sysdepCallMethod
was written on a machine that used NetBSD's floating point emulation
library.  It is conceivable that incompatibilities may result from that
fact.
