Thanks. I'll have a look at it.

BTW: my approach is not just for autoconf, but for other buildsystems
utilizing pkg-config, too. 

I'm currently developing an buildsystem with an completely different
approach: modelizing the *structure* of the software instead of 
writing down rules describing the build process. There's nothing 
like ./configure anymore - the software has to be trimmed down into
modules with strict dependencies. My pkg-config wrapper packages
will do a great job here.
