Calling C functions in Java?

Hi all,

I'm quite a newbie in Java - can someone tell me if I can use normal C
functions in Java? Do I have to compile it in the VM using kaffeh, as done
in the tjwassoc.co.uk packages etc.? If so, how does one use C-functions
in, say, JDK, where they can't be compiled into the VM?
