Newbie question: core dump on Linux

I just downloaded the 1.01b kaffe (not the snapshot).

It compiled and installed seemingly fine, but when I try
to run it, it pauses for a second or 5 and the SEGV's.

However, the bad part is that it won't dump core, so I can't
begin to think about debugging it..  Other processes dump
core just fine with kill -11, so I don't think it's my
environment....

Has anyone got it to work on Slackware 3.3??  Any pointers,
a faq?
