Kaffe & JServ

I am attempting to do some performance testing of various
JVMs for running Servlets for the JServ Apache plugin.

I have the Sun 1.1.5 and 1.2b4 JDKs working so far, but Kaffe
doesn't seem to run this way. Apache starts up fine, and there
are no error messages in either the error log or JServ's error
log during startup, but when a servlet is actually requested,
Apache reports in its error log that it could not establish a
connection with the JVM. A telnet to the port the JVM is supposed
to be listening on (and a `ps -Aef`) shows that KAffe is in fact
not running.

Has anyone had any success in getting Kaffe to work as a Servlet
engine? (I'm using 1.0b2; 1.0b1 used to throw a ClassNotFound
exception for one of the Sockets classes. The platform is
Solaris 2.6.)
