That's very true, I'd overlooked that - although I'm implementing all of them
in Java, so mine could conceivably be used over any native implementation of a
framebuffer (remote or otherwise).

I'm not sure what to classify it as - certainly, the peer classes offer
flexibility and compatibility... But considering that things work well as-is,
how many other things would break if we were to go peer-based?

How much interest is there for this level of jdk-compatibility?
