in my case the problem seems to persist. Or better, I restarted make...

and I get the error... at the file that follows

/usr/pkg/bin/bash ../../../libtool --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -
I. -I../../../config -I../../../include   -DKVER='"1.1.x-cvs"' -I/home/
multix/kaffe-cvs/kaffe/./kaffe/kaffevm -I/home/multix/kaffe-cvs/kaffe/./
kaffe/kaffevm/systems/unix-jthreads -I../../../config -I../../../include  -
DKAFFE_VMDEBUG  -g -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -c -o CharToByteDefault.lo
`test -f 'CharToByteDefault.c' || echo './'`CharToByteDefault.c
/usr/pkg/bin/bash: Undefined PLT symbol "read" (reloc type = 21, symnum
= 94)

CharToByte is the next after ByteToCher

I think there is really some stupid bug, like a missing reinitialization
or such

since you also use NetBSD... is gnu-make required? I'm using it but I
just wanted to know if I could spare it.
