can't be of much help, I'm afraid.

judging by the error messages you posted, I assume that

a) it might work with kaffe-1.0.6 or 1.0.7 if you first install GNU gmp, and
then rebuild kaffe from source.

b) it might work with kaffe 1.1.0 if you can find a driver from Oracle for JDBC
that works with JDBC 3.0 (that's what kaffe 1.1.0 supports). Unfortunately, Sun
broke the compatibility with earlier JDBC releases by adding new methods to the
Connection interfaces, and that's probably why you are seing the error during
class loading.
