this is expected. On ppc at least darwin was broken. but that day things 
broke even worse... :)

Guilhem worked on an older checkout here on my box and fixed those bugs, 
but the new bug introduced 1st dec shadows all the other, so I can't 
check how good Guilhem fixes are...
