GC problem with WinNT and CygnusWin32

hello,

i built 0.9.0 on WinNT with CygnusWin32.  Everything seemed to
work okay, however when I run the HelloWorld program I get 
the following error:

kaffe HelloWorld
assertion "blk->magic == GC_MAGIC" failed: file "gc-mem.c", line 146

anybody familiar with this error or know what it is?
any help would be appreciated.
